Why Economics and Povery Exist: Corruption

Economics is a science which deals with the allocation of scarace resources for the maximum satisfaction of human wants. IT has two branches: Macro economics and Micro economics of these two the latter is the most complex to deal with since it is all about economics analysis.

What does micro economics analyze? It examines the main predicaments, which a certain nation normally encounters, and tries to find out the right solutions. Funny though, that while dilemmas such as corruption, crimes, calamities and war are normal occurrences in a developing country, we could not seen to find effective answer, but only appropriate ones, which aren’t enough.

Economists have determined that the main problem in economics is the scarcity of resources versus people’s unlimited wants. The truth is that resources are so diminutive to satisfy the needs of every Filipino because wealth is unequally distributed. It is centered solely to the aristocrats. For me, they are the ones who have never ending wants.

Unfortunately, to common people, all we can do is just daydream until our brains cannot secrete creative juices anymore and our imagination dries up. Just thinking of thousands of families living miserable lives. I could hear myself saying “saying” of billions of wasted money were just dised to finance mass education, housing, livelihood projects, then perhaps the physiological needs of the unfortunates have been met. Prostitution and crimes should have not been the choice of living for many.

Somehow all the dilemmas that I’ve mentioned earlier affect the lowest class in society calamities and war only push them further the poverty line, the culprit – CORRUPTION deductive reasoning could justify this.

Economics and poverty will not exist without corruption. Most of us may think that the three are essentially different from one another, but do you know that they have one common denominator? Money. Economics is related to studying life’s necessities, which includes the very crucial factors – money. While poverty pertains to the condition of needing money, corruption on the other has, is the state of wanting money. See?

If politician are not corrupt, the government could have had financial resource to support the poor. If that will happen, there could have been no destitute people, and wealth could have been distributed almost equally. Thus, it is insignificant to study economics, end of story.

It all goes down again to our values, if we are responsible citizens, then we should have chosen our leaders wisely – the one with a mind and a heart. Government officials should change the system, not the other way around, that is letting the made influence them. They should think of the Filipino’s welfare.

As they say, there are only two kinds of persons in this world the wise and the foolish. In that case by just looking at the current president, it is easy to conclude that Filipinos are not a bit wise.

It is not yet too late, there is still room for change. Ket us not pose our country to another jeopardy. Cone next election.

Cherishing Thyself

Many of us find acceptance of self-difficult to do. Those feelings of unworthiness, self-criticism, lack of confidence and even perfectionism make us withdraw ourselves from the society we want to be a part with. We tend to live of life of fear. Afraid to risk. But have you ever wished that for once or even in dullest moment you can be the person you wanted to be without hurting somebody and regardless are right, happy, and contented of whatever things that come?

Most young people, for example, have low-self-esteem. This often happen because they cling to childhood experience old fears that inhibit them to move forward. Usually this feeling comes from homes by on criticism and short or praise. As human, we are not prisoners of our past: rather, we have an ever-changing response to life. As Albert Schweitzer once put it “The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind” what we’ve been through in life are not fixed conclusion. So while we cannot change the past, we can always change its effect in the present. AT times, we also think that people cannot handle our mistakes and their responses actually make us feel guilty that we tend to change not anymore for ourselves but for the people around us.

Nationalists and Patriots

Until now Filipinos have not truly grasp the meaning of nationalism in their lives. Abroad of nationalism that is founded or common interest, and trust in us as Filipinos. A nation peopled by men who are truly responsible for the good of their country. We lacked a nationalist rooted in our original culture, tradition and heritage, tradition and heritage.

Nationalism in itself has its cohesive and cementing forces that weld people to become participants in our tradition, interest, and moral values of the nation. It is a sense of national consciousness wherein each individual discover to himself that he is a juridical member of the rational community.

Nationalism is not only common feeling that everyone must share; it has national object and cause an object that will solidify all national motives. Personal cause should be subordinate to the national goal. So as Filipinos in the modern time it is a must to put heavier preference to national goals.

The difficulty in the search for true Filipino nationalism lies not totally on the capacity of the men in the government, church leaders, etc. but to a great extent in a nation to possess that collective quality as a people who can do nothing but for the betterment of the Filipinos.

Nationalisms touches almost all spheres of our survival. That is why we need a nation that is economically and politically independent. A nation that is free from inference and exploitation of outside powers. We do not like to see or people wallow in poverty and hunger as a result of the exploitation by our own elite Filipinos. More importantly, we do not like ourselves and our brother Filipinos. Including Muslim and cultural minorities to suffer form any form of injustices, exploitation and discrimination.

Nationalism needs sacrifice, dedication, devotion and loyalty to noble objectives. The extent of immolation we should do as for as national devotion is concerned is more of self-denial for the fulfillment of our goal. The ultimate objective of the country is for the accomplishment of the goal of economic independence. In the fulfillment of this tremendous task every one is obliged and needed, and no one is supernumerary; be a professional, as under graduate, a barber, a vender or a farmer.

To the Filipinos the lives of our heroes and heroines, their struggles, failure and successes have been a source of pride and inspiration.

To a great extend, nationalism, is best proven in action than in words, for instance the preservation of freedom and independence rely on the capacity of the people to share, how really value these things in their lives to be positive, the scale should see to it that is every body’s duty to protect the freedom and independence of their country against outside aggression. That is nationalism in action that begets unity of people.

Mindano Crisis

Mindanao. Known to be the “Land of Promise” same interpreted it by saying “The day will come that Mindanao will realize its history” others say that it is the “land of promise” because Filipino politicians keeps on promising to develop Mindanao but all of those are just words, Mindanaoans themselves claim that Mindanao is an “Island of Paradise” Mt. Apo is in Mindanao. The Philippine Eagle, the Muslim of the South, the lumads with rich culture, tourism, green environment and the booming economy. But why is there was in Mindanao? Perhaps, it’s the only way to achieve the first interpretation of such quotation “the land of promise”.

The Mindanao economy worsened, There is shortage of rice, lower prices of agricultural products that negatively, affected the farmers, loss of homes, income and etc. Government spent billions of pesos for the military equipment and ammunition and for the evacuees. Infrastructures were destroyed, schools were revived and farms were destructed. These are the manifestation of such nor in Mindanao. But often its capture, does not really end?

Muslims are reasonable enough to wage nor against the national government. Their claim for an Independents Islamic state is justified enough to be granted. History is very clear that before this country become a republic. Muslim in the south were already independent. They had their own culture, political system, literature, arts and the languages that they speak. Since the American occupation up to the present, the influence of Moros slowly declined. The reason is that the influential Christian grabbed their ancestral lands. Central and Western Mindanao is the land of the Muslims, but they themselves do not have funds and enough opportunities to live harmonious and decent lives.

The war in Mindanao is not war between Muslim and Christian just like how the people with shallow the understanding considered it, rather it is the war between Muslims and the rational government. They demand and insist on independence. Primarily geographical and eco. Reasons (Muslim dominated areas are considered as food basket of Mindanao).

Mindanao is presently in turmoil, that the historical imperatives “ are espoused by three social movement in the region the lumads struggle for ancestral lands are preservation of their culture. The Moros struggle for their own way of life, and the Marxist – Leninist style for the over throw of the existing social order – that seek precisely to address historical in justice against the people of Mindanao.

Self Promotion

There’s a workplace trent that has been going since the mid - ’90s called "self-promotion." When I first heard of it, in the United States, it was relatively acceptable among self-employed entrepreneurs, freelancers, and even among those in the corporate world. Self-promotion, considered by some to be boasting and by others to be an art, means doing away with false modesty and applying creative and confident methods to market your products, services and yourslef. If you are aiming for a business deal, you simply have to be more aggressive (without looking it) in following up "silent" prospects; if you are writing a resume, you make it more elaborate than the usual facts - only approach. In short, you are telling future clients or employers that you will definitely be an asset to their company.

Strangely, Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel reminded me of self-promotion - maybe because at first glance it points ho Himself. "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me." If these words were uttered by a cell phone salesman, or even by a priest, for exmaple, it would indeed sound like the self-promotion of the most ridiculous variety, but Jesus is Jesus, and in our guts we know he is not simply boasting about his products, services or himself, nor is he regarding us as prospective clients whose approval or affirmation he needs.

Jesus’ words are backed up by "performance" - his works, miracles, life attest to the power he has been given, and we know where tat power comes from. If we must call his declaration of power "self-promotion" so be it, but let it enable us to ensure that our self-promotion is supported by excellent performance and the "right connection." To be healthy and fruitful, self-promotion must recognize that true power comes from God, who is Love. At the end of today’s Gospel Jesus tells his disciples "I am with you always " Thus, his "Self-Promotion" is not meant to ultimately point to himself but to assure us that with such power as his we cannot but win. Aim for the "right connection" then realize that in promoting yourself you also have the welfare of others at heart, and you will always win.

I was sort of hoping,

That you would come along,
Like the answer to a prayer,
And the music to a song.

Like the kind of thing that happens,
At a special place and time,
That will change our lives forever,
Like a fantasy of mine.

The fantasy was there before,
I ever knew your name,
And now that I have found you,
We will never be the same.

So, pardon, if I look at you,
Forgive me if I stare,
At the fantasy I knew before,
I saw you standing there.

For I was always hoping,
That you would come along,
Like the answer to a prayer,
And the music to a song
